ABOUT

Hi there, I’m Lauren Jade Martin. I’m the voice and brain behind Make It A Double. I aim to make MIAD an accessible and relatable lifestyle blog for my savvy & stylish peers. I hope it inspires and tells a good story (or at the very least, a few good cocktail recipes and a few good puns). I currently reside in Austin, TX. I am a bartender turned accidental entrepreneur, marketing professional, sometimes illustrator and often hot mess. I tend to dabble in this and that. And by ‘this and that’ I mean everything. I count my boyfriend Jason, as my roommate, business partner, best friend and boyfriend of 3+ years. He also serves as my trusty blog editor when I’ve had a few too many glasses of wine. We’ve adopted 2 dogs together, Chloe Einstein & Slater Chauncey…they’re our babies. We’re the definition of an unmarried married couple. Side note: You can even follow our Weimaraner on Instagram!

Here’s a bit more about me: In 2012 I left school for the second time to work full-time in order to bootstrap Phox Charge. In May 2013  we started raising investment money, went full time with Phox to develop it and this past year we finally launched. I do all of the design and marketing for our start-up, but I am also the strategic marketing director at Found Media Group. We do everything from website design, branding, graphic design, multimedia, social media strategy and implementation. My job is truly 24/7 as the internet and social media never sleep. But I wake up excited and thankful everyday to have a job where I can don’t have to follow rules, I make them. We’re a small team of 3 plus a few interns. I absolutely thrive on entrepreneurship, encouraging everyone to believe in themselves and to just create, make and innovate.

Born and raised in California, I’m the result of a free-spirited artist and serious computer programmer making the choice to procreate. So I’m a bit of a different breed. I truly just love being creative and thinking outside of the box. I’m happiest brainstorming, making pretty things; or cuddling with my dogs. Art has always been a talent of mine since I was little and finally picked it up again. I started Style Palette Illustrations as my personal creative outlet. It’s a talent and passion of mine that I now feel comfortable enough to share with others.

So now that you know pretty much everything about me, why don’t you stalk me a little more on Instagram? It’s my favorite. (Instagram, not the stalking)

Now…where did I put my glass of wine?!
